With the launch of the first venture capital fund in 1999, followed by a second in 2005, HIML now offers products which invest in all sizes of companies, all within the specialist remit of information technology, media and communications: The relatively young industries on which the HIML team concentrates include many embryonic companies. However, the Herald Worldwide Fund and Herald Investment Trust do not operate as venture capitalists, instead investing in quoted companies only. Nevertheless, this does not preclude these funds from investing in concept companies that are participating in the emerging sub-sectors, such as the Internet. Importantly, HIML does not invest in pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies, believing that there are greater synergies between information technology, communications and media (in all its forms). The consistent, award-winning performance is an indicator that the HIML approach is a highly successful one. The Herald funds enable investors to gain exposure to the exciting and rapidly expanding technology, communications and multimedia sectors, whilst reducing specific risk through a diversified portfolio, managed by a highly experienced and specialist team. |
